«Caracteres / Cartas» is a volume of classical Greek literature bringing together Theophrastus and Alciphron, published by Gredos in hardback (317 pages, in Spanish).
The volume brings together two titles from Greek antiquity: in «Caracteres», Theophrastus sketches a gallery of human types and social vices of classical Athens; in «Cartas», Alciphron presents a series of fictitious letters from fishermen, peasants, parasites and courtesans that recreate everyday life of the era.
The edition is from 2000 and belongs to the Biblioteca Básica Gredos collection; it includes translation and notes for reading both works.
For readers interested in ancient Greek literature, satire of manners and everyday life in the classical world.
