"Cantos caucanos" is a collection of poems by Antón Avilés de Taramancos, published in its entirety in 1985, five years after his return from a nineteen-year stay in Colombia. In this work, the author expresses his longing for the American country, his second homeland. The collection was awarded the National Critics Prize and was a finalist for the National Literature Prize. Through three extensive poems, Avilés seeks to recover the geographies of the Cauca Valley as a lost paradise, using the figure of Ulysses to explain this process of recovery. Martín Veiga, responsible for this edition, highlights Avilés' wise use of his American experience, which makes "Cantos caucanos" a unique work within Galician literature.
