«Brûlée vive» is the testimony of Souad, with the collaboration of Marie-Thérèse Cuny, published by Pocket in paperback (in French).
Souad is seventeen and in love; in her village in the West Bank, love before marriage is considered a dishonor paid with life. Her family asks her brother-in-law to carry out the sentence; he burns her alive in a so-called «honor crime». She survives by a miracle and decides to tell her story to denounce the women who still die today from these practices.
The book was published in June 2004 and is classified in the categories of biography and memoirs.
For nonfiction readers interested in the situation of women and in denouncing gender-based violence.
