Boquitas pintadas es una de las novelas más célebres del escritor argentino Manuel Puig, publicada originalmente en 1969. La obra, subtitulada 'Folletín en dieciséis entregas', utiliza técnicas narrativas innovadoras como cartas, diarios y fragmentos de revistas para narrar una historia de pasión, amor y muerte ambientada en la provincia de Buenos Aires durante la década de 1930. Juan Manuel Puig Delledonne, commonly called Manuel Puig, was an Argentine author and LGBTQ activist. Among his best-known novels are La traición de Rita Hayworth, Boquitas pintadas, and El beso de la mujer araña which was adapted into the film released in 1985, directed by the Argentine-Brazilian director Héctor Babenco; and a Broadway musical in 1993.
