«Blueprint Blaupause» is the young adult science fiction novel by Charlotte Kerner, published by Gulliver in paperback (204 pages, in German).
The composer Iris, incurably ill, has herself cloned so her musical talent won't disappear. Siri, her daughter, is also her identical twin and grows up as a «blueprint», a copy with a life already mapped out. The novel follows her search for identity against that maternal model and raises ethical dilemmas of genetic engineering.
The work received the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis 2000 and this 2008 edition is a «Neuausgabe» with a new cover design.
Aimed at young people aged 14 and up; frequently used as class reading and in German courses.
