«Bienvenido Mr. Chance (Desde el jardín)» is the novel by Jerzy Kosinski published by Argos Vergara in paperback, with 142 pages, in Spanish.
Chance, a gardener who has always lived apart from the world, enters society after his benefactor dies. His way of speaking only about gardens, with sincere simplicity, is taken by businessmen and politicians as profound wisdom, and so he advances in an environment that prefers to see in him what it wishes.
The translation is by Nelly Cacici. This edition is the first, published in 1980. The novel inspired a film starring Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine.
For readers of short novels with an implicit moral about simplicity and the way power interprets people.
Jerzy Kosiński was a Polish-born American writer and two-time president of the American chapter of PEN, who wrote primarily in English.
