«Balearen eskeletoa» is the young-adult science fiction novel by David Cirici, published by Elkar in 1992 in paperback (168 pages, in Basque).
In a dystopian future, some kids live isolated in an automated boarding school with holographic teachers. When they discover the hidden mechanisms of the centre and make contact with the students of another school, the routine is broken. Friendship and love are born, and they begin to wonder why the adults confined them and what danger they wanted to protect them from.
Volume 19 of the Branka collection; Basque translation by Patxi Zubizarreta Dorronsoro. The original Catalan, «L'esquelet de la balena», was published in 1986.
A novel for young readers fond of science fiction, mystery and coming-of-age stories.
