«Astérix y la sorpresa del César» is the adventure comic by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, published by Planeta Junior in hardback (61 pages, in Spanish).
Based on the film of the same name, this album takes Astérix and Obélix to a Rome of circus and spectacle where Julius Caesar plays a prominent role. The scene of the horse-drawn chariot, with Caesar watching from a tribune and monumental arches in the background, sums up an adventure of chases and misunderstandings.
It belongs to the Astérix series. The subtitle of this edition is El álbum de la película; it was published in 1996 and is catalogued as children's and young adult comics.
Suitable for readers aged 14 and over and for fans of Astérix, for its blend of humour, action and Roman setting.
Alberto Aleandro Uderzo, better known as Albert Uderzo, was a French comic book artist and scriptwriter. He is best known as the co-creator and illustrator of the Astérix series in collaboration with René Goscinny. He also drew other comics such as Oumpah-pah, again with Goscinny. Uderzo retired in September 2011.
