«Asalto a la República: enero-abril de 1936» is the history book by Niceto Alcalá-Zamora, published by La Esfera de los Libros in paperback (465 pages, in Spanish).
The volume brings together the political and personal notes that the first president of the Second Republic wrote between January and April 1936, in the midst of an institutional crisis. It includes unpublished letters and documents, such as the voting records of the elections of 16 February 1936, which question the usual historiographical reading of the period before the Civil War.
It is the first volume of the trilogy «Los diarios robados del presidente de la Segunda República». The edition is by Jorge Fernández-Coppel, with a prologue by Juan Pablo Fusi and an epilogue by José Alcalá-Zamora.
