«Andromaque» is the tragedy by Jean Racine, published by Flammarion in paperback (212 pages, in French).
Andromaque, widow of Hector, is captive of Pyrrhus, king of Epirus, who desires her. Racine interweaves the passions of characters dragged by jealousy and pride towards disaster. Premiered to great success, it is the first major triumph of its author and an essential work of French tragic theatre.
The edition includes a supplementary dossier and the presentation by Arnaud Welfringer; the text is in French and was published in 2015.
With accompanying dossier, it is useful for students of French literature and for those approaching classical theatre.

Jean-Baptiste Racine was a French dramatist, one of the three great playwrights of 17th-century France, along with Molière and Corneille, as well as an important literary figure in the Western tradition and world literature. Racine was primarily a tragedian, producing such "examples of neoclassical perfection" as Phèdre, Andromaque, and Athalie. He did write one comedy, Les Plaideurs, and a muted tragedy, Esther, for the young.
