«Anatomía de un MIR» is María Valerio Sainz's essay on the MIR, in paperback, published by La Esfera de los Libros (336 pages).
The book portrays the figure of the internal medical resident: someone who is already a doctor, but not yet a specialist; who has passed a tough exam and has years of training ahead. The author interviewed dozens of residents to gather their daily tribulations and anecdotes, with humour and closeness, and includes aspirations to specialities such as oncology, surgery, cardiology or paediatrics.
Published in 2009, it carries the subtitle «Tribulaciones y anécdotas del día a día de los médicos internos residentes» and a prologue by Dr José María Segovia de Arana. Text in Spanish.
Aimed at residents, MIR applicants and former residents, as well as those who want to learn first-hand how specialist doctors are trained in Spain.
