Beryl Clutterbuck Markham
Beryl Markham was an aviator born in England, adventurer, racehorse trainer and author. She was the first person to fly solo, non-stop across the Atlantic from Britain to North America but was not the first to cross the Atlantic in that direction. She wrote about her adventures in her memoir, West with the Night. She lived for many years in Kenya, where she died.
