«A White Merc with Fins» is James Hawes's comic heist novel, published by Vintage Books USA in paperback (244 pages, in English).
Four misfits —a former public schoolboy, the black widow Suzy, a Reservoir Dogs obsessive and a Portuguese waiter— plot to rob Michael Winner's bank with plastic guns and a white finned Mercedes. The disillusioned protagonist moves through the London of the era in this black comedy of social satire.
James Hawes's first novel, originally published in London by Jonathan Cape in 1996. The Vintage Books USA edition is from 1997.
For those seeking black comedy with heist-movie pacing and a satirical look at contemporary British society.
