«A Stranger in the Past» is Julie Hart's graded reader for Year 8, published by Burlington Books in paperback (20 pages, in English).
Thomas Clark, a fourteen-year-old boy, has a bus accident on his way to school. When he wakes up, he is in 1940, in the middle of the war, admitted to a hospital and recovering from polio. Everyone calls him by a different name and he doesn't remember his previous life; the story narrates his attempts to understand what has happened to him and how to get back.
It belongs to the Burlington Activity Readers collection, for Year 8 (DBH 2 / 2n ESO), with activity pages, web activities and an interdisciplinary approach.
For Year 8 students who study English and want to practise reading comprehension with a short story.
