«12 octobre» is Matthew Tanner's book of historical anniversaries, published by Editions Gallimard in paperback (30 pages, in French).
The work brings together events associated with 12 October: the discovery of America, the birth of tenor Luciano Pavarotti, the death of Greek orator Demosthenes and Nikita Khrushchev's protest with a shoe at the UN. It also covers holidays, notable births, records, discoveries, inventions and astrological curiosities, such as the sign of Libra.
It is part of the collection «C'était ce jour-là», dedicated to exploring the historical and cultural significance of specific dates.
For readers fond of anniversaries, historical milestones and cultural anecdotes.
