«Winterreise» is Franz Schubert's song cycle performed by Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau and Daniel Barenboim, released by Deutsche Grammophon on CD.
Winterreise (D 911) is a cycle of twenty-four songs composed by Franz Schubert to poems by Wilhelm Müller. It narrates the solitary journey of a wanderer through a winter landscape: among its pieces, «Gute Nacht», «Der Lindenbaum» and «Der Leiermann» stand out. Fischer-Dieskau's voice and Barenboim's piano traverse desolation and memories.
1980 recording, digitally remastered; CD with one disc from the Classikon collection.
