«What the World Needs Now: Stan Getz Plays Bacharach and David» is the jazz album by Stan Getz, released in 1998 by Polygram Records, on CD.
Jazz album in which saxophonist Stan Getz covers compositions by Burt Bacharach and Hal David with arrangements and direction by Richard Evans. Getz's lyrical sound, close to cool jazz, gives new life to pop melodies such as «Alfie», «Wives and Lovers» and «The Look of Love». The repertoire was originally recorded in the late 1960s.
This is a remastered CD edition, released in 1998 by Polygram Records as part of the Verve By Request series. The album contains a single disc.
Recommended for fans of cool jazz and Burt Bacharach melodies, as well as for those seeking an elegant instrumental approach to the pop repertoire.
