«West Side Story» is the original soundtrack album of the eponymous film directed by Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, released in 1990 by Columbia on CD.
The disc features the musical numbers from the film based on the stage show of the same title, with music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Its repertoire includes tracks such as «Maria», «America» and «Tonight», combining symphonic orchestration with Latin rhythms to reflect the conflict between two youth gangs in New York at the time.
The album brings together 15 tracks from the original recording, with musical direction by Johnny Green and performances in English.
For fans of classic musicals and film soundtracks.
