Uri Caine Ensemble reinterprets Richard Wagner live with violins, cello, double bass, piano and accordion, in a style close to jazz. Recorded at the Gran Caffè Quadri and the Hotel Metropole in Venice in 1997, it includes «Muerte de amor» (Tristan and Isolde), the Tannhäuser overture and the Ride of the Valkyries.
The original recording is from Winter & Winter, made in Venice in June 1997. Total duration: 55:24.
For classical and jazz music listeners seeking original versions of Wagner with the atmosphere of Venice's cafés in the background.
