«Urban Cuban» is the debut album by the collective P18, released in 1999 by Higher Octave, on CD.
The album fuses European electronic music with Afro-Cuban rhythms, with elements of salsa, dub and jungle. It was recorded with French and Cuban musicians and offers a danceable repertoire that brings Cuban tradition closer to the dance of the late 90s. Notable tracks include 'Escuchen mi conga' and 'Somos el futuro'.
The P18 collective was led by Thomas Darnal, former member of Mano Negra. The album, released on 19 October 1999, contains eleven tracks and was licensed by Tabata Tour and Virgin France S.A. to Higher Octave World.
