«Turandot (Highlights)» is a CD with the most notable passages from Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot, recorded in Milan in 1958.
Opera in three acts and five scenes with libretto by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. Set in a fairy-tale Peking, Princess Turandot challenges her suitors with three riddles and punishes with death those who fail to solve them; Calaf, son of the dethroned King Timur, faces the trial. The final duet and the ending were completed by Franco Alfano.
1958 recording with Maria Callas (Turandot), Nicola Zaccaria (Timur), Eugenio Fernandi (Calaf) and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf (Liù); Chorus and Orchestra of Teatro alla Scala conducted by Tullio Serafin. Sung in Italian.
