«Trio Sonatas» is the album with six trio sonatas by Baldassare Galuppi, released on CD by Newton Classics in 2012.
Baldassare Galuppi, nicknamed “Il Buranello”, composed these six sonatas for two violins and basso continuo, from the Gimo collection of Jean Lefebure. In contrast to his opera and keyboard music, he adopts the slow-fast-slow scheme of early Italian classicism; it includes ‘lombard' rhythms in No. 5 and a central recitative in No. 6.
The performance is by the Accademia Vivaldiana di Venezia. Catalogue number: 8802121.
For fans of early classical chamber music and Venetian composers rarely found in standard catalogues.
