«The Sound of the Smiths» is the compilation by The Smiths, released in 2008 by Warner, on CD.
It covers the singles The Smiths released between 1983 and 1987, with digital remastering. Alongside classics such as «Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now», «How Soon Is Now?» and «Panic», it brings together less common tracks and songs that were only released in some countries, within the guitar pop-rock that characterised the band.
The CD edition contains the 23 tracks remastered in 2008 and has a total running time of 76 minutes.
For anyone wanting a gateway into The Smiths, with the band's best-known singles collected on a single CD.
