«The Rough Guide to Irish Music» is a various-artists compilation released by World Music Network on CD.
It brings together traditional Irish music, with tracks in Irish and English that showcase its varied vocal tradition. The journey goes from the energetic music of Donegal to the polkas and slides of Kerry and Cork, and includes offerings that cross folk with other styles. Dervish, Paul Brady and Altan feature, with songs such as «An t-Úil» and «Mary And The Soldier».
Second edition of the compilation, compiled by Geoff Wallis, with 22 tracks and a running time of 70:31. Produced by World Music Network in association with Rough Guides.
For those wanting to get into Irish music and for folk enthusiasts seeking an overview of the genre.
