«The Pretender» is the rock album by American singer-songwriter Jackson Browne, released by Warner on CD.
The record brings together ten songs of country rock and soft rock with introspective lyrics portraying doubts, losses and the search for hope in everyday life. It opens with «The Fuse» and continues with tracks such as «Here Come Those Tears Again», «Your Bright Baby Blues» and «Linda Paloma», in a set combining piano ballads and guitars characteristic of the Californian sound of the seventies.
The original album was released in 1976 by Asylum Records and reached number 5 on the US Billboard 200 chart, where it received RIAA platinum certification. This CD edition has one disc with remastered sound.
