«The Orchestral Tubular Bells» is the album by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Mike Oldfield, released in 1986 by Virgin on CD.
Symphonic version of Tubular Bells, Mike Oldfield's iconic composition. David Bedford arranged the work for orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performs it with Oldfield himself on guitar, under Bedford's baton. The result moves the progressive rock universe into a modern classical register.
It consists of a single CD and was released in the United Kingdom, with a sound between progressive rock and modern classical.
For those seeking a symphonic approach to Tubular Bells and for fans of progressive rock and classical music.
