«The Opera Band» is the debut album by Amici Forever, released by Ariola on CD (1 disc, in English).
British ensemble Amici Forever, formed by classically trained voices, fuses opera with pop in this first work. The repertoire includes versions of well-known arias such as «Nessun Dorma» and «Song to the Moon» alongside pop standards like «Senza Catene (Unchained Melody)» and «Requiem for a Soldier», with contemporary orchestral arrangements.
Produced by Nick Patrick, with the participation of the Budapest Film Orchestra. The album reached number one on the Australian classical charts and the top 5 of the UK classical charts, and was nominated for Album of the Year at the 2004 Classical BRIT Awards.
For those seeking a gateway into operatic-pop crossover, with familiar melodies performed by lyrical voices and orchestral accompaniment.
