«The History Boys» is Alan Bennett's radio play, published in 2006 by BBC Physical Audio on CD, in English.
The play is set in a boys' grammar school in Sheffield in the 1980s, where eight bright pupils prepare for the Oxford and Cambridge entrance exams. Four teachers with opposing methods —the eccentric Hector, the supply teacher Irwin, the traditionalist Mrs Lintott and a headmaster obsessed with results— clash.
Complete edition on 2 CDs, with 150 minutes of recording; a BBC Radio 3 production with the National Theatre cast and voices of Richard Griffiths, Clive Merrison and Frances de la Tour.
Aimed at audiobook listeners and fans of British theatre and BBC Radio drama productions.
