«The Gathering» is the album by Caribbean Jazz Project, released in 2002 by Concord Records, on CD.
The group, co-led by vibraphonist Dave Samuels and flautist Dave Valentin, fuses jazz with Latin rhythms and textures. The repertoire combines standards such as «Stolen Moments» by Oliver Nelson and «Bemsha Swing» by Thelonious Monk with original compositions by the project.
«The Gathering» won the Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album at the 45th Grammy Awards, held in 2003.
Recommended for fans of Latin jazz and jazz fusions with Caribbean music.
