«The Festival of Folk Music from North-eastern Serbia» is a compilation by Various Serbian Folk Artists, released in 2000 by Biveco on CD.
Compilation of 34 recordings of Serbian folk music, from solo voices to small ensembles, from the Crna Reka region in eastern Serbia. Includes ritual and traditional songs performed with archaic and diaphonic techniques, as well as kolo dances, and a 16-page booklet with notes on each piece.
The recordings come from the Boljevac Festival, an annual celebration of folk creativity in north-eastern Serbia; the 2000 edition marked the thirtieth anniversary of the gathering.
For those interested in traditional Balkan music and ethnomusicology, particularly Serbian recordings of a ritual and communal nature.
