«The Classical Album» is a classical music compilation by various artists, released in 2000 by Universal Music as a double CD.
It brings together 36 recordings with voices such as Pavarotti («Nessun dorma») and Maria Callas («La mamma morta»), and soloists like Vanessa-Mae («Toccata and Fugue») or Kennedy (Vivaldi's Winter). It alternates opera arias, orchestral music, choral pieces and film scores, with Bach, Elgar, Barber and Michael Nyman among the composers.
Compilation released by Universal Classics & Jazz and EMI TV; the recordings include texts in English, Italian and Latin.
Suitable for those new to classical music with famous performers and for collectors of compilations.
