«The Black Album» is the album by The Damned, originally released in 1980 and issued on CD by Big Beat UK.
The British group The Damned moves away from the most direct punk and explores a denser, more atmospheric sound, with echoes of gothic rock and post-punk. Notable tracks include 'Wait for the Blackout', 'Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde' and the lengthy 'Curtain Call', at around seventeen minutes.
Album with English lyrics, catalogue number CDWIK 906 and a style combining new wave and punk.
Will appeal to fans of post-punk and gothic rock, as well as those wanting to learn about the evolution of British punk towards alternative rock.
