«Szymanowski: Stabat Mater» is the classical music album by Karol Szymanowski, released in 1997 by Naxos, on CD.
The programme brings together five works by the Polish composer Karol Szymanowski: the Stabat Mater Op. 53, Veni Creator, Litany to the Virgin Mary, Demeter and Penthesilea. Written for soloists, choir and orchestra, they combine liturgical piety with an expressive, modern language.
Recorded in Katowice between December 1988 and June 1989, under the direction of Karol Stryja, with soloists Jadwiga Gadulanka, Krystyna Szostek-Radkowa and Andrzej Hiolski.
Suitable for lovers of classical music and twentieth-century choral compositions.
