«Symphony 1» is the album by Eugen Jochum and the London Philharmonic Orchestra featuring Johannes Brahms's Symphony No. 1, released by Capitol on CD.
The CD brings together Brahms's Symphony No. 1 with two of his overtures: the Tragic Overture and the Academic Festival Overture. Eugen Jochum conducts the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a reading that highlights the contrast between the drama of the former and the festive tone of the latter, with the symphony as the centrepiece.
1-disc CD edition. Total duration: 69:22 per the cover. The cover presents the work titles in German, English and French.
For classical music enthusiasts, particularly those interested in symphonies and overtures from the Romantic repertoire.
