«Symphonie Alpestre» (Eine Alpensinfonie) is the album by Richard Strauss with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Zubin Mehta, released on CD by Decca.
The symphonic poem evokes a day in the Alps: night, dawn, the ascent, the forest, the storm and sunset. Mehta's version includes passages such as «Nacht», «Sonnenaufgang» and «Gewitter und Sturm, Abstieg», representative of Strauss's descriptive style.
1976 recording released in 1987 by Decca/London in the Jubilee series, catalogue number 417 717-2, with remastering.
For classical music collectors and admirers of Zubin Mehta and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
