«String Quartets» is the album by Bohuslav Martinů with the Pražák Quartet and the Zemlinsky Quartet, on CD (hybrid SACD) released by Praga Digitals in 2009.
Martinů's three string quartets show very different styles: No. 1 H.117 (1918), the shortest, called the Pocket Quartet; No. 3 H.183 (1929), known as the French Quartet and a tribute to Debussy; and No. 6 H.312 (1946), madrigal-inspired and with a strong polyrhythmic spirit.
Multichannel and stereo recording, playable on standard CD players; total duration 72:26.
For fans of 20th-century chamber music and the string quartet repertoire.
