«Sonate & balletti» is the Baroque music album by Giovanni Legrenzi, released in 1991 by Newton Classics, on CD.
It brings together sonatas and balletti by Giovanni Legrenzi, a Venetian Baroque composer, in performances by Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca. The instrumental music of the Seicento is presented with a balance between the counterpoint of the sonatas and the danceable air of the balletti, showing the richness of the Venetian chamber repertoire.
The works are performed by the ensemble Sonatori de la Gioiosa Marca; the album belongs to the Newton Classics catalogue.
Suitable for fans of classical music and the Venetian Baroque, as well as for those seeking historically informed chamber performances.
