«Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin, BWV 1001-1006» is the album by Ilya Kaler featuring works by Johann Sebastian Bach, released in 2008 by Naxos as a double CD.
Bach's six sonatas and partitas for solo violin, gathered on this double CD, were written without accompaniment; their polyphonic texture and frequent use of double stops make them a technical and expressive challenge. Ilya Kaler's version includes the extensive Chaconne from Partita No. 2 in D minor.
Recorded at the Church of St. John Chrysostom in Newmarket (Canada) in 2006 and 2007. Catalogue number: 8.570277-78.
