«Má Vlast» is the cycle of six symphonic poems by Bedřich Smetana performed by the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and Libor Pešek, released by EMI Classics on CD.
The work, composed in the 1870s, musically portrays landscapes, legends and landmarks of Bohemia with a Romantic and nationalist language. Among its six movements, «Vltava» (The Moldau) stands out as the best known, describing the course of the river that runs through Prague. The version was recorded by the British orchestra under the direction of the Czech conductor.
