«Sitembele» is the album by Aba Taano, released in 2012 by Kireka Music for Discover Records, on CD.
Sitembele brings together the six voices of Aba Taano in an original repertoire that moves between gospel, vocal improvisation, dance and tribal chants. The Ugandan ensemble sings in languages such as Swahili, Luganda, Zulu and Runyankore and draws on the American gospel tradition, all without instrumental accompaniment.
The group comes from Uganda, its name means «the five» in Luganda and it was born from the humanitarian project Music to Save Lives.
