«Sinfonie 6» is the CD album by Philharmonia Cassovia and Johannes Wildner featuring Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 «Pathétique» and Hamlet, released in 1991 by Donau.
The programme combines two Tchaikovsky scores: the Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, «Pathétique», and the fantasy overture Hamlet, Op. 67. From the symphony, one of the composer's most personal works, the opening movement Adagio-Allegro non troppo and the Finale: Adagio lamentoso stand out; the overture provides a dramatic contrast inspired by Shakespeare.
Digital DDD recording with a total duration of 65'39". The CD contains five tracks and its catalogue reference is DCD-8077.
For classical music enthusiasts interested in Tchaikovsky's symphonic repertoire and in performances with Central European orchestra and conductor.
