«Short Stories» is the album by Kronos Quartet, released in 1993 on Nonesuch, on CD.
The record brings together nine short pieces by very diverse composers: it includes «Spoonful» by Willie Dixon, «Spectre» by John Oswald and Sofia Gubaidulina's String Quartet No. 2, alongside works by John Zorn, Henry Cowell and Elliott Sharp. The quartet moves from Dixon's blues to Zorn's abstraction, in a journey through contemporary chamber music.
A single disc with a duration of 74 minutes, originally released by Elektra Nonesuch; catalogue number 7559-79310-2.
For listeners of contemporary classical and experimental repertoire, interested in Kronos Quartet and composers such as John Zorn or Sofia Gubaidulina.
