«Selva Morale & Spirituale» is the album by Claudio Monteverdi performed by Akademia, released in 2003 by Zig-Zag Territoires on 3 CDs.
Three cycles of Monteverdi's sacred music: vespers of holy martyrs, vespers of a confessor, and solemn vespers of Saint John the Baptist, with masses (one in excerpts and one a cappella). Akademia, under the direction of Françoise Lasserre, offers a reading that ranges from festive to intimate and reflects the work's dual moral and spiritual aspect.
Distributed by Harmonia Mundi; catalogue number ZZZZ9101.
For fans of sacred music and early Baroque vocal repertoire.
