«Schubert: Death and the Maiden, Quartettsatz» is the album by Franz Schubert with the Amadeus-Quartett, released on CD in 1983 by Deutsche Grammophon.
The album brings together two chamber works by Schubert: the String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, 'Death and the Maiden' (D 810), with variations on his song of the same name, and the Quartettsatz in C minor (D 703). The Amadeus-Quartett accentuates the contrast between lyricism and drama in the 'Andante con moto' and the 'Allegro assai'.
The Amadeus-Quartett consists of Norbert Brainin, Siegmund Nissel, Peter Schidlof and Martin Lovett. Digital edition, catalogue number 410 024-2.
For fans of chamber music and the Romantic string quartet repertoire, especially recordings by the Amadeus-Quartett.
