«Sacrificium» is Cecilia Bartoli's classical music album, released in 2009 by Decca, on CD.
The album recreates the repertoire of the castrati, singers who in the Baroque era underwent surgery to preserve their childlike voice and who were stars of Neapolitan opera. Bartoli sings arias by Porpora, Leo, Vinci, Caldara, Graun and Araia, with names linked to Farinelli and Caffarelli. It includes eleven world-premiere recordings and a total duration of 77:55 minutes.
Recorded at the Centro Cultural Miguel Delibes in Valladolid, with Il Giardino Armonico conducted by Giovanni Antonini. The booklet includes the song texts.
Recommended for those who enjoy Baroque opera and highly virtuosic voices, as well as for collectors of recordings by mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli.
