«Rumba Rhythm: The Sizzling Sounds of South America» is a various-artists compilation, released in 2012 by Dv (CMS) on CD.
Rumba emerged in Cuba among the enslaved population of African origin, with dances that prioritise body movement and highly complex cross-rhythm percussion. In Havana it was enriched with indigenous and Spanish influences; this compilation brings together that sonic legacy in pieces with a South American Latin atmosphere.
Remastered compilation of a record; released in the UK on the Signature and Fastforward Music labels. Genres: jazz, Latin music and folk.
For fans of this style and listeners wanting to broaden their musical horizons.
