«Romeo and Juliet / Capriccio Italien / 1812 Festival Overture» is the album by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, released in 1987 by Naxos on CD.
The disc brings together three orchestral scores by Tchaikovsky: the fantasy-overture Romeo and Juliet, of Shakespearean inspiration, and the Capriccio Italien, bright and colourful in character, along with one of his best-known festive pieces. The composer's Romanticism is evident both in his melodies and in his instrumental colour.
The performance is by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Stephen Gunzenhauser; the CD belongs to Naxos's Compact Classics series with catalogue number 8.550030.
For those interested in Romantic classical music and Tchaikovsky's orchestral overtures.
