«Romantic Ensembles» is a chamber music compilation by various performers, released in 2004 by Brilliant Classics in a 6-CD box set.
It brings together eleven chamber works from the Classical and early Romantic eras by Spohr, Hummel, Berwald, Kreutzer, Beethoven and Schubert. Includes Beethoven's Septet op. 20, Schubert's Octet D. 803 and Hummel's Septet op. 114, performed by The Nash Ensemble, Berlin Philharmonic Octet and Wiener Kammerensemble.
The six CDs are divided between The Nash Ensemble (discs 1-4), the Berlin Philharmonic Octet (disc 5) and the Wiener Kammerensemble (disc 6).
For fans of chamber music and the less common classical-romantic repertoire.
