«Rinaldo» is Georg Friedrich Händel's opera in complete version, released by Nuova Era on double CD.
Rinaldo, composed in 1711, was the first Italian opera written for the London stage. Its plot, inspired by Torquato Tasso's Jerusalem Delivered, blends love, war and redemption during the First Crusade. Among its numbers are the aria «Lascia ch'io pianga», «Cara sposa» and «Venti, turbini».
Live recording from 1989 with Marilyn Horne, Cecilia Gasdia, Ernesto Palacio, Christine Weidinger and Natale De Carolis, with the Orchestra and Chorus of Teatro La Fenice in Venice and conductor John Fisher.
For fans of baroque opera and historic live recordings of Händel's repertoire.
