«Presence» is the vocal jazz album by Lisa Sokolov, released in 2004 by Laughing Horse Records on CD.
On «Presence», Lisa Sokolov deploys her voice over a repertoire of standards, hymns and original compositions, with improvisation and scat. The singer reinterprets songs such as «Oh, What a Beautiful Morning» and «Chain of Fools» accompanied by a trio of piano, double bass and drums, with phrasing that ranges from a whisper to a shout without losing the swing.
The CD was released in the United States with reference LHR 1011. The accompaniment is by John Di Martino on piano, Cameron Brown on double bass and Gerry Hemingway on drums.
For fans of vocal jazz and improvisation looking for a singer with an expressive voice and a repertoire of reinvented standards.
